Newtonian Structures

High-end Fully Customizable Newton Structures Systems

This is not just a tube. It’s a custom Newtonian telescope structure — crafted to match your way of observing.

Whether for deep-sky imaging, planetary capture, or visual observation from a fixed setup, our Newtonian structures are engineered to deliver rigidity, perfect alignment, and thermal stability — even under heavy gear and long sessions.

Each unit is handcrafted using precision-machined aluminum and stainless steel and fully customized:
from focal ratio and balance to mechanical interfaces and finish.

Whether you’re building a permanent observatory or rethinking your current setup,
Doc Telescope’s custom Newtonian telescope structures are designed to adapt — and built to last.

The heart of our Doc Telescope Newtonian Structures

Built in Italy, engineered for permanence and precision.
Every element is custom-machined to integrate seamlessly with
observatory-grade mounts and fixed installations.

Designed for those who demand absolute stability and
repeatable performance — night after night, under real sky.

Mechanical Design

Built from laser-cut aluminum, the structure minimizes mechanical stress and thermal deformation — even under large mirrors and temperature shifts. Key joints use stainless steel for added rigidity. All tubes and spacers are made from high-grade aluminum — balancing strength, weight, and serviceability.

Available Options

Every Doc Telescope Newtonian Structure is built to perform. But it can also carry a signature that makes it yours.

From laser-etched design accents to discreet engraved nameplates, we offer refined details for those who value uniqueness — without compromise.

Compatibility

Designed for full structural compatibility, each Newtonian setup is engineered from scratch together with the client — defining from the start which final mount or fixed pier will host the telescope.

The project is tailored to the observing site and use case, ensuring precise fit & alignment with equatorial mounts, observatory installations, and existing infrastructure.

Stainless Steel Components

Critical connection points feature stainless steel ball joints — ensuring reliable movement and mechanical integrity.

Aluminum Components

Every aluminum part — from tubes to spacers — is CNC-machined for precision fit and structural consistency.

Available Options

Carbon fiber telescope tube with textured weave pattern against starfield background.
Unlock peak performance with the Carbon Fiber Upgrade — available for long tubes and spacers. Designed to deliver ultra-fast vibration damping and maximum thermal stability, it’s the go-to choice for those who demand absolute precision — even in windy conditions or intensive imaging sessions.

Spacers are also available in a selection of anodized finishes — including black, blue, light blue, gold, red and silver — for a custom aesthetic that matches your personal setup. Do you need a different color? Ask us.

Design Philosophy

Every structural element in the Newtonian is the result of targeted engineering — optimized for weight, rigidity, and field performance.

No decorative mass, no unnecessary materials: just pure structural function, refined through experience and precision design.

Assembly System

Each tube features stainless steel ball terminals that lock into precision-fit sockets for fast, secure assembly.

The structure can be made fully detachable for easy transport and storage.

Secondary Cage

The upper structure features a dual-, triple-, or quadruple-ring aluminum cage, engineered for rigidity and balanced weight.

It houses the secondary mirror and spider, ensuring precise alignment and stability even under demanding conditions.

Spider & Mirror Cell

Secondary mirror support (spider) made from 316 stainless steel, optionally unpainted for industrial look. The primary mirror is mounted in a custom stainless steel flotation cell with a PLOP-optimized 18-point sandwich system, ensuring consistent axial support across the full surface.

Available Options

Available on request for high-resolution imaging.

Leaving the stainless steel spider unpainted reduces light diffraction — delivering cleaner stellar profiles and smaller Airy disks.

A subtle but measurable gain for astrophotographers.

Coolfan

A high-performance axial fan accelerates mirror cooldown, stabilizing image quality in under 90 minutes.

Essential for deep-sky observing and planetary imaging, it equalizes the mirror’s temperature with the outside air — eliminating thermal distortion and improving contrast.

Light Shroud

Dobson Lasermax III telescope mounted on motorized base with control panel against desert sunset.
Made from premium Lycra, the Light Shroud is engineered to block stray light and preserve image contrast — even in light-polluted environments.

Its elastic design ensures a snug fit along the optical path while allowing quick setup and removal.

A must-have for deep-sky observation and astrophotography.

Filter Drawer

Close-up of telescope mirror cell assembly with motor and circular optics on metal frame.

Easily swap filters without removing your camera or diagonal.

The integrated filter drawer system offers fast, tool-free access to your favorite filters — even in the dark and with gloves on.

A must-have for imaging sessions and advanced visual setups.

Protect your optics with a precision-regulated dew heater — designed for the secondary mirror.

The Dew Heater maintains optimal clarity and performance in cold or humid conditions.

Primary Mirror

Start with your mirror — or let us source it for you.

The Doc Telescope Newtonian Structures is built around optical freedom: choose your preferred maker or rely on our selection of hand-figured, high-performance mirrors crafted from low-expansion glass and coated for maximum reflectivity and durability.

Each delivers a high Strehl ratio with razor-sharp contrast and pinpoint star resolution across the entire field.

We can provide the perfect primary mirror for your Lasermax configuration — or you can supply your own. We work with select optical partners to ensure outstanding figure quality, coating performance, and long-term reliability.
Choose between two levels of aluminum coating:

Standard (~89–90% reflectivity)
High-reflectivity upgrade (up to 96%)

While both deliver excellent optical performance, the enhanced version offers slightly brighter views and higher contrast — especially appreciated during deep-sky sessions.

Larger mirrors collect more light — revealing fainter stars, galaxies, and nebulae with greater contrast.

Choose from 8″ to over 24″, each hand-figured for precision. Do you need a bigger one? Ask for more!

Smaller sizes mean portability. Larger ones unlock deep-sky performance.

Select the size that fits your sky.

The focal ratio shapes both your field of view and your observing experience.
Faster optics (f/3.5–f/4.5) offer wide, immersive views and a more accessible eyepiece position.
Slower optics (f/5–f/6) increase magnification and image scale — ideal for lunar, planetary, and high-power detail work.
Choose the balance that fits your vision.

Secondary Mirror

Our telescopes feature a precision flat secondary mirror, hand-selected to match the optical quality of the primary.
Each unit is coated with enhanced aluminum and protected by a quartz overcoat, ensuring maximum reflectivity and long-term durability.
We carefully size the secondary to preserve contrast and optimize field illumination, even with large-format sensors or wide-angle eyepieces.

Focuser

Laser collimator tool with black housing, yellow cap, and adjustment knobs for telescope alignment.
The focuser is your direct connection to the sky. Every movement, every fine adjustment — it all happens here.
Zero flexure. Zero backlash. Zero compromises.
Select the focuser that matches your expectations and we’ll do the rest.

Choose from premium focusers.
Smooth, precise, stable — even under the weight of heavy eyepieces or astrophotography setups.

Finder

Red dot finder scope with white and black metal body and mounting bracket on base.
Pointing starts here. Your finder is the bridge between naked-eye sky and precision optics.
Every Lasermax includes a solid base for your favorite finder — red dot, reflex, optical or hybrid.
Choose your preferred system — and lock onto the sky effortlessly.
A green laser pointer projects a visible beam into the sky, making target acquisition fast and intuitive — especially useful during public events or collaborative sessions.
This non-magnifying aiming device uses a simple illuminated dot to help you align the telescope.
It’s lightweight, easy to use, and perfect for quick navigation across wide fields.
Typically an 8×50 optical finder with crosshairs, offering a magnified view of the sky.
Ideal for fine positioning and precise targeting.
Other sizes are available upon request to suit your observing style.
